Review of Reactions in Chemistry

QuestionAnswer
Chemical Reaction Occurs when one or more substances change to form new substances
Reactants The substances that change in a chemical reaction
Products The substances that are the result of the change in the chemical reaction
Evidence that a chemical change has occurred Formation of precipitate, temperature change, color change, or formation of gas
Endothermic A chemical reaction that occurs when heat is absorbed or taken in
Exothermic A chemical reaction that occurs when heat energy is released
Law of Conservation of Mass Matter can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only change form
Chemical Equation A way of writing the changes that occur during a chemical reaction
In order for a chemical reaction to be balanced, these must be equal The atoms of the reactant and the atoms of the product
