Commutative Property of Multiplication You can multiply terms in any order EX: 5*4=4*5
Associative Property of Addition Changing grouping symbols does NOT change sum EX: (5+2)+3=5+(2+3)
Associative Property of Multiplication Changing grouping symbols does NOT change product EX: (5*3)*2=5*(3*2)
Additive Inverse opposite
Additive Inverse Property (aka Inverse Property of Addition) The sum of any number and its additive inverse (opposite) is zero EX: 5+(-5)=0
Multiplicative Inverse reciprocal
Multiplicative Inverse Property (aka Inverse Property of Multiplication) The product of any number and its multiplicative inverse (reciprocal) is one EX: 5*(1/5)=1
Additive Identity 0
Additive Identity Property (aka Identity Property of Addition) The sum of any number and the additive identity (0) is the number EX: 5+0=5
Multiplicative Identity 1
Multiplicative Identity Property (aka Identity Property of Multiplication) The product of any number and the multiplicative identity (1) is the number EX: 5*1=5
