Ch 2 Pronouns

| Pronoun | a part of speech that takes the place of a noun. |
| Antecedent | The noun that a pronoun replaces.The antecedent is the noun to which the pronoun refers. The pronoun must agree with the antecedent in numbers (singular or plural) and gender (male or female) |
| Personal Pronoun | a pronoun that takes the place of a noun that refers to a person or object. |
| Nominative pronoun | A pronoun used as the subject of a sentence. |
| Objective Pronoun | A pronoun used as the object of a sentence. |
| Possessive Pronoun | a pronoun that shows ownership or relationship |
| Relative pronouns | The pronouns who, whom, whose, which, that, what, whoever, whomever, and whatever. |
| Interrogative pronouns | Pronouns that introduce questions: who, whom, which, what, and whose. |
| Demonstrative Pronouns | Pronouns that point to nouns: this, these, that, and those. |
| Indefinite Pronouns | A pronoun that refers to a noun that is not named. |
