Alliteration repitition of initial consonant sounds

Denotation the literal defination of a word
Diction Is word choice to disscuss a writers diction is to consider the vocabulary
Dramatic Poetry is poetry that involves the techniques of drama
figure of speech a word or phrase that identifies or descibes something in a way that is not literally true
Genere Is a division or type of literature
Hyperbole gross exaggeration for effect
Image Is a word or phrase that appeals to one or more of the senses
Irony an unexpected twist
Lyric poetry Is a highly verse that expresses the emotions, attitudes
Metaphor a direct comparison
Narritive poetry is poetry that tells a story
onomatopeia the use of words whoses sounds imitate natural sounds
personification giving an object or animal human qualities or characteristics
Rhyme scheme the pattern of rhymes at the end of lines in a poem
sarcasm a form a verbal irony; saying something and meaning the exact opposite
simile a comparison using like or as
Speaker is the persons whose voice we hear in the poem
Stanza Lines grouped together to form a division of a poem seperated frome each other lines and spaces
Sybol an object person place event that stands for something more than itself
