Body system that converts food into usable energy. DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Moistens and softens food making it easier to swallow. SILIVA
Muscular tube that pushes food to the stomach. ESOPHAGUS
Cuts, tears, and grinds food making it easier to swallow. TEETH
Produces saliva and pushes food into the esophagus, where digestion begins. MOUTH
Proteins that help break down food. ENZYMES
Churns food with it's muscular walls, produces acids and enzymes. STOMACH
The process of changing food into material the body needs. DIGESTION
End of the large intestine , holds solid waste. COLON
Where the majority of digestion occurs. SMALL INTESTINE
The process of removing waste from the body. EXCREATION
Produces bile which help break down fats. LIVER
Stores bile and releases it into the small intestine when needed. GALL BLADDER
Absorbs all remaining water and compacts remaining waste to a solid, LARGE INTESTINE
Organs that filter and covert water and dissolved waste into urine. KIDNEYS
Hydrochloric acid produced by the glands in the stomach that break down food preparing it for digestion. ACID
First 10-12" of the small intestine. DUODENUM
