Geometry-angles

Definitions of types of angles

QuestionAnswer
Vertex The common endpoint of the rays forming an angle.
Right angle An angle that measures exactly 90 degrees.
Acute angle An angle with a measure of greater than 0 degrees and less than 90 degrees.
Obtuse angle An angle that measures greater than 90 degrees, but less than 180 degrees.
Straight angle An angle that measures exactly 180 degrees.
Vertical angle Opposite angles formed by the intersection of two lines.
Congruent Having the same measures.
Adjacent angles Angles that have the same vertex, share a common side, and do not overlap.
∠ The symbol denoting an angle.
≅ The symbol meaning "is congruent to" or equal in shape and size.
Supplementary angle Two angles when added together equal 180 degrees
Complementary angles Two angles when added together measures 90 degrees.
