Definitions of types of angles

| Vertex | The common endpoint of the rays forming an angle. |
| Right angle | An angle that measures exactly 90 degrees. |
| Acute angle | An angle with a measure of greater than 0 degrees and less than 90 degrees. |
| Obtuse angle | An angle that measures greater than 90 degrees, but less than 180 degrees. |
| Straight angle | An angle that measures exactly 180 degrees. |
| Vertical angle | Opposite angles formed by the intersection of two lines. |
| Congruent | Having the same measures. |
| Adjacent angles | Angles that have the same vertex, share a common side, and do not overlap. |
| ∠ | The symbol denoting an angle. |
| ≅ | The symbol meaning "is congruent to" or equal in shape and size. |
| Supplementary angle | Two angles when added together equal 180 degrees |
| Complementary angles | Two angles when added together measures 90 degrees. |
