Measurement

TermDefinition
Arc is a part of the circumference of a circle
Area The number of square units needed to cover a given surface
Capacity the amount of space that can be filled
Circumference C=2πr or C=dπ for the measured distance around the edge of a circle.
Cross-section a surface or shape exposed by making a straight cut through a 3 dimensional object
Net Net is a two-dimensional pattern of a three-dimensional figure that can be folded to form the figure. In other words, net is a flattened three-dimensional figure which can be turned into the solid by folding it.
Perimeter the continuous line forming the boundary of a closed geometrical figure.
Polyhedron a solid figure with many plane faces, typically more than six.
Prism a solid geometric figure whose two ends are similar, equal, and parallel rectilinear figures, and whose sides are parallelograms.
Sector A region bordered by part of a circle and two radii.
Subtended angles are created by two lines joining. The 2 points where lines start are the points that subtend the angle.
Surface Area The sum of all the areas of all the faces or surfaces that enclose a solid.
Volume is the quantity of three-dimensional space enclosed by some closed boundary, for example, the space that a substance (solid, liquid, gas, or plasma) or shape occupies or contains.
