TermDefinition
Alliteration The repetition of initial consonant sounds at the beginnings of words.
Argument A statement that seeks to convince readers of something, addresses a problem, and takes a position.
Article A nonfiction prose composition that is part of a mazaine or newspaper that usually is focuesd around a single topic.
Autobiography The story of a person's life written by that person.
Author's Purpose The author's reason for creating written work.
Biography The story of a person's life written by another person.
Cause and Effect The relationship between two or more events in which one event brings about another.
Cite To quote or to mention as support, illustration, or proof.
Claim A statement made by the author that must be argued. It is the author's opinion.
Context Clues These are in the text surrounding a word and gives hints for the meaning of the word.
