clambering v- to be struggling, scrambling, or climbing awkwardly
specious adj- good or right on the surface, but lacking real value; superficially pleasing or plausible
enmity n- deep-seated hatred; state of being enemies
spectacles n- eyeglasses
fulcrum n- the support on which a lever turns (think base for a seesaw)
furtive adj- describes something done stealthily or secretly; “on the sly”
strident adj- making a loud, harsh sound; urgent
creepers n- plants that grow upon and cover the ground and any other surfaces (example: ivy)
indignation n- strong displeasure or anger at something considered unjust or offensive
bastion n- a fortification or protected stronghold
