The Law

TermDefinition
bankrupt (adjective) a. declared by law to be unable to pay one's debts. b. completely without money. c.
defendant (noun) The person against who a legal action is brought. Usually the person who is accused of committing the crime.
evident (adjective) Easily seen or understood; obvious; clear the word evidence comes from this word
fugitive (noun) A person who runs away or flees from the law
just (adjective) Honest; fair this comes from the word justice
larceny (adjective) The crime of stealing; theft
lenient (adjective) Inclined to forgive; merciful, not strict or demanding (like when you did something wrong but your parent doesn't punish you too harshly)
testimony (noun) A spoken or written statement or declaration given under oath, especially in court-supposed to be the truth
verdict (noun) The decision reached by a jury at the end of the trial (guilty, or not guilty)
witness (moun) 1. Someone who testifies in court; someone who has heard or seen something; someone who signs an official document 2. Verb-to be present at an event
