| Exclamatory Sentence | A sentence that exclaims something and always ends in an exclamation mark |
| Blank Verse | Has rhythm but no rhyme |
| Couplet | Two lines that rhyme on the same meter |
| Free Verse | No rhyme or rhythm |
| Haiku | A poem with 3 lines and a total of seventeen syllables with 5 syllables on the first line, 7 syllables on the second line, and 5 syllables on the third line |
| Iambic Pentameter | A meter in poetry consisting of 10 syllables divided into five feet (A foot has two syllables) |
| Limerick | A humorous poem consisting of a rhyme scheme of aabba |
| Lyric | A poem that explores feelings or emotions |

| Rising Action | The events in a story that lead to the point of greatest interest |
| Climax | The greatest point of interest in a story |
| Theme | The topic of a story |
| Point of View | The position from which something is observed or told |
