The Elements of Fiction
| Term | Definition |

| Protagonist | The principal character in a work of fiction |
| Antagonist | Someone who offers opposition |
| Theme | A unifying idea that i a recurrent element in literary or artistic work |
| Resolution | A statement that solves a problem or explains how to solve the problem |
| Climax | The decisive moment in a novel or play. |
| Plot | The story that is told in a novel or play or movie etc. |
| Conflict | An open clash between two opposing groups (or individuals) |
| Mood | A characteristic (Habitual or relatively temporary) state of feeling. |
| Tone | The quality of something (an act or piece of writing) that reveals the attitudes and presuppositions of the author |
| Exposition | An account that sets forth the meaning or intent of writing or discourse |
