Charriez Literary Techniques 1

QuestionAnswer
alliteration the close repetition of consonant sounds, usually at the beginning of words
simile a figure of speech that uses 'like' or 'as'to make a comparison between two unlike ideas
personification a nonhuman subject or character is given human qualities
onomatopoeia the use of words that imitate sound
end rhyme the words at the end of a line rhyme
metaphor a figure of speech in which something is described as if it were something else, often uses the verb to be
