fraction vocabulary

TermDefinition
quotient The answer to a division problem.
product The answer to a multiplication problem.
factor One of the numbers being multiplied.
denominator The bottom number of a fraction, that shows how many parts the whole is broken into.
numerator The top number of a fraction, that shows how many parts are being used.
like fractions Fractions with the same denominator.
unlike fractions Fractions with different denominators.
repeating decimals A decimal whose digits repeat in groups of one or more.
terminating decimals A decimals that stops.
bar notation The line placed over the repeating digits in a repeating decimal.
greatest common factor The greatest number in a list of common factors.
Least common denominator The smallest common multiple of the denominators of two or more fractions.
fraction A part of a whole.
rational number A number that can be expressed as a fraction.
