LPA Maths Vocab Year 7 Term 3 - Higher

Fraction Any part of a group, number or whole
Decimal A number after the decimal point
Percentage Value out of 100
Numerator Top value in a fraction
Denominator Bottom value in a fraction
Improper Fraction Fraction when the top number is larger than the bottom one
Simplest Form Fraction when the numerator and denominator have no common factors
Cancel Divide numerator and denominator by common factors
Common Denominator bottom number have the same value
Equivalent Fraction Have same value but may look different
Certain It must happen
Unlikely probably won’t happen
Likely probably will happen
Impossible can’t happen
Even Chance 50 50 chance of it happening
Equally likely 50 50 chance of it happening
Fair No bias
Outcome Result of an event
Probability Scale Scale to measure the likelihood of an outcome
Likelihood chance of an event happening
Regular all sides and angles equal within a shape

Vertices Corners
Opposite Two integers are opposites if they are each the same distance away from zero, but on opposite sides of the number line.
Horizontal Flat line
