Finite | A limited number of items |
Sequence | A list of numbers or patterns that follow a particular pattern or rule |
Term | A number or pattern within a sequence |
Generate | Following a rule or pattern to work out the next term(s) |
Predict | An educated guess as to what will happen |
Square Number | A positive number that is the result of multiplying a whole number by itself |
Multiple | Is the result of multiplying that number with a whole number |
Cube Number | A number that is the result of multiplying a whole number by itself, then multiplying by itself again. |
Fibonacci Number | Number from a sequence generated by adding the previous two terms together |
Factor | A whole number that divides into the original number exactly |
Angle | Formed by 2 lines meeting at a point. Measured in degrees |
Reflex | An angle between 180 and 360 degrees |
Acute | An angle of less than 90 degrees |
Obtuse | An angle between 90 and 180 degrees |
Right Angle | An angle of exactly 90 degrees |
Parallel lines | Lines that never meet and stay the same distance apart all the way along their length |
Perpendicular | Two lines that meet at right angles to each other |
Equilateral | Triangle with 3 equal sides and 3 equal angles |
Scalene | Triangle with each side a different length and each angle a different size |
Isosceles | Triangle with two sides and two angles the same size |
Symmetry | A shape can be divided into 2 parts by a line, such that each part is a mirror image of the other |
Rotation | A transformation to turn an object around a centre point |
Reflection | A transformation when a shape is flipped over a mirror line to face the opposite direction. |
Translation | A transformation when a shape is moved to a new position without changing its orientation |
Enlargement | A transformation to change the size of a shape |
Congruent | Multiple shapes identical in size |
Similar | Shapes with the same angles but different length sides |
Object | The original shape to be transformed |
Image | The new shape after it has been transformed |
Transformation | Changing of a shape by rotation, reflection, translation or enlargement. |
