word study A learner- cemleredapproach conceptual to inslruction in phonics, spelling word recognition and vocablary
blind sort a word sort done with a partner; students who are responsible for sorting but can't see the words, but must insted rely upon thier memory of the spelling pattern and the sounds they hear to determine the catagory as labled by the key word displayed.
writing sort a sort that follows a wordsort where students wrote thier words into columns under the key words students have written as headings of columns in thier notebooks.
closed sort a wordsort that classifies words into predtermund catagories.
open sort type of wordsort in witch the catagories for sorting are left up to students judgement.
buddy sort a sort in witch one person calls out a word without showing it while the other student points toor writes the word in the column it should go in.
speed sort words that are sorted under a timed condition, students try to bet thier own time.
word hunt a word study activity in witch students are sent back to text they have previous read to hunt for other words that follow the same spelling features examimed during the word or picture sort.
