Atom A unit of matter or the smallest unit of a chemical element
Atomic Mass Number of protons and neutrons in the atom
Atomic Number The number of protons in the nucleus of an atom
Bohr Diagram shows protons and electrons as they move in a circular orbit similar to the solar system
Chemical Symbol A code for a chemical element
Electron primary carrier of electricity in solids and is a negative charge
Energy Level the amount of energy it has/ the rings
Family another word for group
Isotope same element that contains equal numbers of protons but different numbers of neutrons
Leptons subatomic particle such as an electron
Lewis Structure electron dot diagrams
Metal solid that is good electrical and thermal conductivity
Metalloid an element whose properties are intermediate between those of metals and solid nonmetals
Neutron neutral charge with about the same mass as a proton
Nonmetal element that is not a metal
Nucleus central positively charged core of an atom
Periodic Table a table of the chemical elements arranged in order of atomic number

Oxidation Number represents the number of electrons lost(or gained if the number
Chemical Formula shows total number of atoms in a molecule
Chemical Equation Shown by arrows and other symbols
Reactants a substance that undergoes change during a reaction
Products a substance obtained from another substance through chemical change
Law of Conservation of Mass law in which matter can not be created or destroyed
