Macbeth Act 1

QuestionAnswer
When will the witches meet again? Before sunset, in a field, after someone has won the battle
How do the witches hail Macbeth? They hail him as the thane of Glamis and Cawdor and also as the future king
What predictions do they make for Banquo? They say that his descendents will be king but not himself
What announcement does Ross make that shocks Macbeth? That the king is pleased and that he is to call Macbeth the Thane of Cawdor
What warning is Banquo trying to give Macbeth? The people of evil (witches) will tell someone part of a truth in order to lead them to destruction
Macbeth expresses unnatural thoughts, what are they? He says that the witches told him two things that have come true. He would have to kill Duncan to become king and it physically scares him
What is the thane of Cawdor's attitude toward as he faced death? How did he view his own life? He threw away his life like it was garbage and he begged for forgiveness when he realized that he had done something wrong
What announcement does Duncan make? That his eldest son Malcom is becoming the prince of cumberland and that means that he is now the heir to the throne.
What is Macbeth's state of mind at the time after Duncan's announcement? He is guilty that he is thinking about killing Duncan, and that Malcom is a problem. It will either stop him or he will have to go around him
What is Lady Macbeth's reaction? She is excited about the prophecy but is worried that Macbeth won't be able to do what is necessary.
What are 2 things Lady Macbeth asks for? less feminine so she could kill the men & darkness so no one could Stop her
What is Macbeth's argument for killing not killing Duncan? Duncan is a fair king, Macbeth is kin & host,risks his after life, and karma of killing. . . Ambition for killing
What does Lady Macbeth say to taunt him into action? She says that he is not a man, she threatens her love and says she would do anything if she swore too
What is the Plot to murder Duncan? When Duncan is asleep, lady Macbeth will get the servants so drunk that they wont remember anything. Then they will use the servant's knives to murder Duncan then put his blood all over them. The servants will be blamed
