Neutron A neutron subatomic particle in the atom's nucleus... has no charge and most of the mass.
Element The simplest form of matter that contain only one type of atom.
Periodic Table of Elements A chart that organizes all the elements by atomic number and properties.
Valence The electron in the outer level of an atom that causes atom's to hold together.
Chemical Bond An interaction that hold a atom's together.
Chemical Bonding The joining of atoms to form new subtances
Ionic Bond Is formed when electrons are transformed form one atom to anthem atom
Ion Charged particle or atom tart sainted or lost electrons.
Crystals lattice Repeat 3 dimensionless pattern that form when Ions bond.
Covant Bond The type of bond that form when atoms share electrons stead of trans ferries them.
Metallic Bond A special bond between metal Ions and the electrons that same around them.
Ductility Metals can be stretch and darn into wires.
Malleability Metals can be pounced into thin sheets.
Electrical Conductivity Metal can conduct or can electricity through wires.
Thermal Conductivity Metals can con
electron dot Diadram An easy way to show the valence electrons in atom or chemical bond.
compound A set of elements that are chemically bonded & changed into new substances into new substances Na-cl=saly
Chemical Formula A shorthand way to use chemical symbols and number to represent a substance. (H20)
Chemical Equation Uses symbols to show the relationship between the reactants and the products. C+o2->Co2
Subscript (H2O)- Small number to the right of the selectmen that shows how many atom there are of the element.
Coefficient The lang number that multiplies atoms of the element 2c + 3na
Reaction A substance or Moroccan that starts a chemical reaction.
Product The substance that form as a result of a chemical reation
Law of conservation starts that matter is hither created nor destroyed in a chemical reaction
Molecule 2 or more atoms joined in a definite ratio keep phy & chem properties.
Diatomic Molecule A molecule made of 2 atom of the same element - ( ex .2 oxygen atom)
Synthesis Reaction When two or more substances combine to create one new compound.
Decomposition A where a single compound breaks down to form 2 simper substances.
single displacement reaction one element replaces another element in a compound leaving a new compound and 1 element.
double displacement reaction the 2 metal ions in 2 compound switch places in a chemical reactions.
