| scale factor | the ration of any 2 corresponding lengths in 2 similar figures |
| unit rate | a rate with a denominator of 1 |
| slope | the rate of change between any two points on a line; the steepness of a line; rise over run |
| ratio | a way to compare quantities using division |
| rate of change | a rate that describes how one quantity changes in relation to another; usually a unit rate |
| rate | a ratio of 2 quantities having different kinds of units; example miles per hour |
| proportion | an equation stating 2 ratios or rates are equivalent |
| constant rate of change | the rate of change in a linear relationship |
| nonproportional | the relationship between two quantities that do not have a constant ratio |
| equivalent ratios | two ratios that have the same value |
| proportional | two quantities that have a constant ratio |
| direct variation | the relationship between two variable quantities that have a constant ratio; another term for proportional |
| constant of variation | also known as the constant of proportionality |
| constant of proportionality | a constant ratio or unit rate of two quantities that are proportional |
| complex fractions | fractions with a numerator that is a fraction, a denominator that is a fraction, or both that are fractions |
