Delhi Sultanate

Delhi Sultanate Delhi-based Muslim Turkic kingdom that ruled over large parts of India for 320 years.
The Five Dynasties of Dehli Mamluk dynasty, the Khilji dynasty, the Tughlaq dynasty, the Sayyid dynasty, and the Afghan Lodi dynasty
Qutb-ud-din Aibak, Former slave of Muhammad Ghori, was the first sultan of Delhi and his dynasty conquered large areas of northern India.
Indo-Islamic Architecture Mix of Islamic, Persian, Turkish, and native Indian architecture. A major aspect of Mughal architecture is the symmetrical nature of buildings and courtyards (Taj Mahal)
Razia Sultana The only woman ruler of both the Sultanate and the Mughal period
"Slave Dynasty" The first leaders had been slave soldiers, or Mamluks
Khiljis Turks who had for a long time settled in the region of Afghanistan. There for their coming to the thrown of Delhi is called "Khalji" revulusion. The Ghazani's and Ghori's invasions, and Mongol pressure from Central Asia had pushed them into India.
Bandagan favoured their special slaves purchased for military service, They were carefully trained important political offices in the kingdom. Since they were totally dependent upon their master,the Sultan could trust and rely upon them.

Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq Rechristened himself as Muhammad bin Tughlaq, and ruled for 26 years. During his rule, Delhi Sultanate reached its peak in terms of geographical reach, covering most of Indian subcontinent.
Sikandar Lodi led a campaign of destruction of temples, particularly around Mathura. He also moved his capital and court from Delhi to Agra- an ancient Hindu city
