Add and Subtract

Addition, Subtraction, and Estimation Vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
addends Numbers added together to give a sum. Example: 25 + 15 = 40 (addend + addend = sum)
sum The answer when adding two or more addends. Example: 25 + 15 = 40(addend + addend = sum)
round To replace a number with another number that tells about how many or how much.
estimate To give a number or answer that tells about how many or how much.
fact family A group of related facts using the same numbers. Example: 4 + 8 = 12, 8 + 4 = 12, 12 - 8 = 4, and 12 - 4 = 8
difference The answer when subtracting one number from another.
