RL.4.5 Poetry, Drama, Prose

rhythm The sound and feel created by the pattern of accented and unaccented syllables, usually repeated, in a poem
meter the rhythm of a poem
alliteration repetition of the first (initial) sounds of words, such as She sells seashells
rhyme scheme patterns of end rhymes in a poem, labeled with letters
theme the subject of a story or a life lesson learned
onomatopoeia A word whose sound is similar to the thing or action it refers to, such as “buzz” or “hiss.”
stanza a group of lines forming a section in a poem
scenes parts of the acts in a drama;changes with setting or time
dialogue words spoken by actors in a drama
prose Ordinary writing or spoken language, usually written in sentences and paragraphs, as opposed to rhythmical lines.
