| Physical Properties | Characteristics of a pure substance that can be observed without changing it into another substance |
| Chemical Properties | Characteristics of a pure substance that describes its ability to change into a difference substance |
| Qualitative | made by gathering information that can be recorded using descriptive |
| infrence | not a fact, but an interpretation of what the direct observations mean |
| Quanitative | made by gathering information that can be recorded as a number with a measurement unit |
| Scientiic law | describes what scientist exect to happen every time under a particular set of conditions |
| Constant | Part of an experiment that is held in the same condition for control and experimental |
| Variable | part of the experiment that changes |
| Independent | A factor in a controlled experiment that is intentionally changed by the experimenter |
| Scientific Therory | A well tested explanation for a wide range of observations or experimental results |

| Dependent | A resulting factor in a controlled experiment that is observed and measured to see if it changes due to the manipulation of another variable |
| Experiment | A course of action completed in order to test a hypothesis |
| Control | A standard to which all other levels are compared in a scientific esperiment |
| Matter | anything that has mass and takes up space |
| Elements | A pure substance that cant be broken down into other substances by chemical or physical that makes up all matter |
| Atoms | The basic particle from which all elements are made |
