graphing terms

interval | the distance between two numbers on the scale of a graph |
multiple-bar graph | a bar graph showing two or more sets of data for each category |
multiple-line graph | a line graph showing two or more sets of data for the same period |
stem-and-leaf plot | a type of graph that shows groups of data arranged by place value |
histogram | a bar graph that shows the frequency with which, or the number of times, data occur within certain intervals |
box-and-whisker graph | a graph that shows how far apart and how evenly data are distributed |
lower extreme | the least number in a set of data |
upper extreme | the greatest number in a set of data |
lower quartile | the median of the lower half of a set of data |
upper quartile | the median of the upper half of a set of data |
