absolute value the distance a number is from zero on a number line
reciprocal is the value needed to have a product of 1
integer a set of whole numbers and their opposites
quotient answer to a division problem
dividend the number you divide into in a division problem
divisor the number you divide by in a division problem
product the result of a multiplication problem
sum the result of a addition problem
differnece the result of a subtraction problem
coefficient number being mulitiplied by a variable
variable represents an unknown number
rational numbers any number that can be expressed as a ratio of two integers
whole numbers a number without fractions; can be divided with no remainder
irrational numbers a number that cannot be written as a ratio with two integers
natural numbers positive integers; no negative numbers or fractions
