Amendment 1 Freedom of assembly, speech, religion, press, and petition
Amendment 2 the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed
Amendment 3 No quartering of soldiers without consent of citizens
Amendment 4 No “...unreasonable searches and seizures...” (search warrant required)
Amendment 5 Self-incrimination you do not have to testify against yourself (pleading the fifth); Double Jeopardy you cannot be charged for the same crime twice
Amendment 6 Right to a speedy trial - (your case will be heard when a judge can schedule you for trial)
Amendment 7 Trial by jury. 12 will be picked at random from the country where the crime was committed
Amendment 8 No “cruel and unusual punishment” (Capital punishment; put tin people to death. Lethal injection is the most humane way of ending a human life)
Amendment 9 Protection of civil rights not mentioned in the Constitution
Amendment 10 Powers not delegated to the federal government are reserved for the states
Amendment 11 No state can be sued by a resident of another state in Federal Court
Amendment 12 The President and Vice President will be elected separately
Amendment 13 Abolished slavery
Amendment 14 Citizenship to blacks
Amendment 15 Black suffrage (Men only)
Amendment 16 Income tax - The Federal government now taxes income
Amendment 17 Direct election of US Senators by the people. The state government no longer elect US Senators
Amendment 18 Prohibition
Amendment 19 Woman suffrage - Susan B. Anthony died 1906
Amendment 20 Presidential Oath of Office - Moved from March 4 to January 20
Amendment 21 Repeal of Amendment 18
Amendment 22 Presidential term limit - 1 term = 4 years; max 2 terms
Amendment 23 Electors to District of Columbia - 3 electors to DC
Amendment 24 Elimination of poll tax - pay was no longer required to vote
Amendment 25 Presidential Succession - If the President can no longer serve, the VP takes over
Amendment 26 Age suffrage (18) - From 21
Amendment 27 Congressional Pay - Any increase in pay will take effect during the next congressional term
