TermDefinition
numerator the top of a fraction and it describes the "part" out of the whole
denominator the bottom part of a fraction and it tells us how many equal parts that the whole is cut into
absoulte value the magnitude of a real number without regard to its sign
intergers a whole number; a number that is not a fraction
opposites a person or thing that is totally different from or the reverse of someone or something else
ratio the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are connected, or the state of being connected
rate a measure, quantity, or frequency, typically one measured against some other quantity or measure
unit rate a rate is a ratio between two measurements with different units.
unit price the cost of one unit of measurement of an item
reciprocal a mathematical expression or function so related to another that their product is one; the quantity obtained by dividing the number one by a given quantity
variable the dependent variable y represents the value of a function of x
proportion a part, share, or number considered in comparative relation to a whole
