Paraphrase: "What else could the boy have done?" There is nothing he could have done
What is unusual about the structure on the poem? The sentences extend from one stanza into the next.
Paraphrase: "to flutter ignorantly from petal to petal within some garden" doing the same thing over and over can be boring and mundane
What did Icarus gain from his flight? wisdom
Paraphrase: "cushion for what he wanted" the wisdom/knowledge he gained
