industrial (adj.) to do with the large-scale production of something that will be sold My mom has industrial amounts of baking ingredients in our basement because her business is growing so much.
careen (v.) to swerve crazily while moving forward The enormous delivery truck careened off the side of the road, critically injuring the driver.
exclamation (n.) a forceful statement of protest or complaint The protesting student made an exclamation at the board meeting.
smolder (v.) to burn without flames After the fire had died out, the wood was smoldering, still very hot and burning.
snicker (v.) to laugh quietly in a mean way As the student was presenting her work, she'd made a mistake, and the class snickered.
wrath (n.) intense anger; rage "You will feel my wrath!!" said the voice coming from the TV. 'This movie is great!!' I thought.
exemplary (adj.) desirable model; representing the best of its kind At my graduation, I got an award for exemplary grades throughout that year.
context clues (n.) words or phrases in a text that help you figure out the meaning of unfamiliar or confusing items My LA teacher told us to look for context clues to help us find the definition of a vocabulary word.
