Corrosion

Corrosion in metals

Corrosion when a metal is attacked by air, water, or other substances in its surroundings
The more reactive the metal is… the more readily it corrodes
What does rusting involve? Air and water
How to prevent rusting coat metal with something to keep out air and moisture
Protection from rusting paint, grease, plastic, another metal (zinc=galvanization), sacrificial protection
Does Aluminium corrode? It starts to but soon stops, due to the even coat of aluminium oxide which acts as a seal preventing air and moisture to further corrode the metal
