| Noun | A word that names a Person,place,thing or idea |
| Verb | A word that shows Action |
| Pronoun | Takes the place of a noun |
| Subject | Who or what the sentence is about |
| Predicate | Part of a sentence that tells about the subject |
| Adjective | Descriptive word for a noun |
| Adverb | Descriptive word for a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. |
| Conjunction | A word that connects related words or groups of words (and,or,but) |
| Capital Letter | A letter that is uppercase. A is a capital or uppercase letter. |
| Exclamation point (!) | A punctuation mark showing strong feeling. |
| Period (.) | The punctuation mark ending a sentence that makes a statement or gives a command. |
| Question Mark (?) | The punctuation mark that ends a sentence asking a question. |
| Sentence | A group of words that form a complete thought; a sentence begins with a capital letter and ends with a period, question mark, or exclamation point. |
| Sentence Pattern | The basic form of a sentence. |
| Article | A word that points out a noun; (A, An, The) |
| Action Verb | A word that tells what the subject of a sentence does. |
| Complete Predicate | The whole part of a sentence that tells what the subject is doing. |
| Complete Subject | The whole part of a sentence that tells who or what the sentence is about. |
| Simple Predicate | One or more verbs in a sentence. |
| Simple Subject | One or more subject nouns or pronouns in a sentence |
| Fragment | A group of words that is not a complete sentence. |
| Punctuation | Marks in a sentence that tells readers when to pause or stop. |
| Comma (,) | A punctuation mark used to set apart one or more words. |
| State-of-being Verb | A verb that tells that the subject exists, but does not show action. |
