SHS Expressions

Variables, Functions, Patterns, Graphs

TermDefinition
Variable A variable is a symbol usually a letter, that represents a number.
Equation A equations is a mathematical sentence that uses an equal "=" sign.
Simplify To get something into its simplest form.
Exponent An exponent tells how many times a number, the base, is used as a factor.
Evaluate You evaluate an expression by substituting a given number for each variable.
Absolute Value The absolute value of a number is how far the number is from zero.
Function A function is a relationship that assigns exactly one output value for each input value.
Dependent Variable The variable that changes because of what I changed.
Independent Variable The variable that I change.
