6 Traits

TermDefinition
Ideas Writers choose a reason or purpose for writing, and develop their ideas on a specific topic.
Organization Writers organize their writing with a clear beginning, middle, and end, and they include transition or signal words to take their writing from one idea to the next.
Word Choice Writers choose precise, spicy words to paint a picture in the reader's mind.
Voice Writers use tricks and strategies to make their writing come alive.
Sentence Fluency Writers create a rhythm and flow in their sentences.
Conventions Writers use proper grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling.
