Parts of Speech

Learn the eight parts of speech.

TermDefinition
Noun Person, place, thing OR idea.
Pronoun Takes the place of a noun. Ex. He, she, it.
Verb An action or state of being. What did they DO?
Abverb Describes a verb.
Adjective Describes a noun.
Preposition The place. Ex. At, underneath.
Conjunction Combines words or phrases together.
Interjection Stops the sentence. Ex. Wait a second.
