| Co-dependency | A mutually destrucive relationship between a person who is addicted and their pather helps by continueing the addiction instead of breaking it |

| Head start | A federally funded preschool program provided for low income families |
| internal barriers | emotions or attitudes within a person that makes it difficult for him or her to seek help |
| external barriers | barriers in the environment that make it difficult for a person to receive help. |

| generalist | A worker who is knowledgeable about a wide range of resources and subgroups and who can use a variety of helpong interventions |
