What were Mary Wollstonecraft's beliefs? Society based on merit, not gender (gender equality)
What is an Absolute Ruler? Ultimate authority to run a Country was in the hands of a king who ruled by some higher power.
What are some qualities of Absolute Monarchies? Total control over the lives of their people, believed they were put into power by God.
What was the Enlightenment ? movement which encouraged the power of the people to solve their own problems, rather than the government.
John Locke's beliefs? All people were born with Natural Rights-- Life, Liberty, and right to own property. If the Government doesn't protect your rights, one has to the right to overthrow it
Rousseau's beliefs? The good of the majority is more important than the good of one or a small group of individual
Montesquieu's beliefs? There should be a separation of power-- 3 branches of government
