'i' before 'e' except after: 'c' with the sound of 'eeeee' eg. belief, receive
When adding 'y' to a word ending in 'e' you: Drop the 'e' before adding the 'y' eg. noise + y = noisy
When a word ends in an 'e' the 'e' is usually kept when: A suffix beginning with constant is added eg. noise + less = noiseless
When a word ends in an 'e' and the 'e' is usually dropped when: A suffix beginning with a vowel is added eg. love + able = lovable
The prefixes 'dis-' and 'mis-' never: beginning with 's' eg. 'dis' + ability = disability, 'dis' + 'satisfied' = disatisfied
