Bonding Electron Carbon has four of these in its outer shell
Organic Chemistry Carbon chemistry, study of the various compounds of carbon
Alkane Hydrocarbon containing all single bonds
Alkene Hydrocarbon containing (carbon-carbon) double bond(s)
Alkyne Hydrocarbon containing (carbon-carbon) triple bond(s)
Hydrocarbon Simple organic compounds made of primarily carbon and hydrogen
Polymer Large molecules consisting of many repeating structural units
Monomer Individual structural unit of polymer
Protein Biological polymer, carries out gene expression, made up of amino acids
Amino Acid Biological monomer, 20 different types, make up proteins
Peptide Bond Connects the N- and C-terminus of many amino acids into a polypeptide chain
Carbohydrate Biological polymer and monomer, examples include sugars and starches
Nucleic Acid Biological polymer, made up of repeating nucleotides, store genetic information
Nucleotide Biological monomer, each has a sugar, phosphate, and base, found in DNA and RNA
Lipid Biological macromolecule, used for energy storage and the cell membrane.
