A planet orbits round the Sun.
The time for a planet orbit is called a year.
A moon orbits round a planet.
The time for the Moon to orbit the Earth is approximately 1 month.
What happens to the temperature if a planet is closer to the Sun? It is hotter.
What happens to the length of a year if a planet is closer to the Sun? It is shorter.
What is the name for a 'dirty snowball' that has an non-circular orbit round the Sun? a comet
Where in its orbit does a comet move fastest? when it is nearest to the Sun
What is the name for a large collection of stars? a galaxy
Which satellite orbits the earth faster, one at low height or at a greater height? The one at a lower height.
Out of Earth, Moon, Star, Comet. Which is luminous? Star
The circular path a planet takes round the Sun is called an Orbit
The nearest planet to the Sun is Mercury
Three advantages of having an astronomical telescope as a satellite are: No clouds spoil view (no weather). No atmosphere absorbs or blocks the different radiations. No particles in the atmosphere scatter the rays/blur the image.
A rocket carries LOX because it is liquid oxygen and there is no air in space to burn the fuel.
