| bar notation | in repeating decimals, the line or bar placed over the digits that repeat |
| common multiples | multiples that are shared by two or more numbers |
| dimensional analysis | the process of including units of measurement when computing |
| least common multiple | the least of the nonzero common multiples of two or more numbers |
| mean | the sum of the data divided by the number of items in the data set, also called the average |
| measure of central tendency | for a list of numerical data, the numbers that can represent the whole set of data |
| median | in a set of data, the middle number of the ordered data, or the mean of the middle two numbers |
| mixed number | the indicated sum of a whole number and a fraction |
| mode | the number or numbers that occur(s) mot often in a set of data |
| multiple | the product of a number a whole number |
| multiplicative inverses | two numbers whose product is 1 |
| rational number | a number that can be written as a fraction in the form a/b, where a and b are integers and b cannot be equal to 0 |
| reciprocals | another name for multiplicative inverses |
| repeating decimals | a decimal whose digits repeat in groups of one or more without end |
| terminating decimal | a decimal whose digits end and can be written as a fraction with a denominator of 10, 100, 1000, and so on |
