absolute value the distance a number is from zero on the number line
additive inverse an integer and its opposite
coordinate a number that corresponds with a point on a number line
inequality a mathematical sentence that contains, <, >, greater than or equal to or less than or equal to
integers the whole numbers and their opposites (...-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3...)
mean the sum of data divided by the number of items in the data set, also called the average
negative number a number less that zero
opposites two numbers with the same absolute value
quadrants the four regions into which the x-axis and y-axis separate the coordinate plane
