Term | Definition |

absolute value | the distance a number is from zero on the number line |
additive inverse | an integer and its opposite |
coordinate | a number that corresponds with a point on a number line |
inequality | a mathematical sentence that contains, <, >, greater than or equal to or less than or equal to |
integers | the whole numbers and their opposites (...-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3...) |
mean | the sum of data divided by the number of items in the data set, also called the average |
negative number | a number less that zero |
opposites | two numbers with the same absolute value |
quadrants | the four regions into which the x-axis and y-axis separate the coordinate plane |
