Geometry definitions
| Term | Definition |

| circle | the set of all points in a plane equal distance from a given point |
| secant | a segment that intersects a circle in 2 points with a point as an endpoint of a segment |
| central angle | an angle whose vertex is the center of the polygon and whose side contains 2 consecutive verticies |
| Tangent | line that intersects a circle in exactly 1 point |
| point of tangency | a point where the line touches the circle |
| radius | distance from the center to a point on the circle |
| congruent circles | 2 circles that have same radius |
| Major arc | > 180 |
| Minor arc | < 180 |
| sector | a region bounded by 2 radius of a circle and intercepted arc |
| semicircle | 180 |
| arc length | circumferance of a circle |
| apothom | distance from center of polygon to any side |
| diameter | a chord that goes through the center of a circle |
| chord | segments whose end points ar on the circle |
| area of a rectangle | A= LW |
| obtuse triangle | all angles > 90 |
| acute triangle | all angles < 90 |
| median | a segment whose end points are a vertex of a triangle and mid points of opposite side |
| scale factor | the ratios of the lengths of 2 corresponding sides of 2 polygons |
| midsegment theorem | a segment that connects the mid points of the legs of a trapazoid |
