Parallel Lines | 2 lines that don't meet at any point |
Intersecting lines | 2 line that meet one another |
Angle | a figure that formed by 2 rays that meet at an end point (acute, obtuse, right) |
Quadrilateral | a figure with 4 sides |
Square | a quadrilateral with equal sides and 4 right angles |
Rectangle | a quadrilateral with 4 right angles as well as opposite equal sides |
Parallelogram | a quadrilateral with 2 sets of parallel sides and opposite equal sides |
Triangle | a figure with 3 sides |
Trapezoid | a quadrilateral with one set of parallel sides that are unequal |
Irregular/composite figure | a figure made up of many shapes |
Net | a flat out 3-D shape |
Surface area | the total area of a faces |
Perimeter | the distance around the outside of a 2-D shape or the # of units that surround the outside of the shape |
Area | the # of square units that can cover the inside of a 2-D shape |
Volume | the amount of space a 3-D shape takes up or the number of cubic units that will fill the inside of the shape |
Mean | the average of a set of #s |
Median | the middle # of a set of #s |
Mode | the # that occurs the most |
Range | the difference of the least and greatest #s of a data set |
upper quartile | the median of the #s higher than the median |
lower quartile | the median of the #s lower than the median |
Interquartile range | subtract the UQ and the LQ |
Integer | whole numbers and their opposites |
Absolute value | the distance between the # and 0 on a # line |
#line | a line with positive and negative #s |
