QuestionAnswer
Monomer liquid and polymer power nail enhancements are also know as? Sculpted nails. Created by combining monomer liquid and polymer powder to form the nail enhancement
What is monomer liquid and polymer powder? Monomer is one unit called a molecule. Polymer powder is a substance formed by combining many small molecules (monomer) into very long chain-like structures.
what forms when the monomer liquid absorbs the polymer powder? a small bead of product.
Polymerization Also known as curing or hardening. A chemical reaction that creates polymer.
Catalysts A substance that speeds up chemical reactions
Initiators Start a chain reaction that leads to the creation of a very long polymer chain.
The initiator that is added to the polymer powder is called? Benzoyl Peroxide.
The amount of monomer liquid and polymer powder used to create a bead is called? Mix ratio.
If too much powder is picked up in the bead the enhancement will cure incorrectly and may be? Brittle and discolored.
Nail Dehydrators Removes surface moisture and tiny amounts od oil left on the natural nail which can block adhesions.
For natural nail preparation and shaping use a? Medium grit 180 to 240
Nail forms Are placed under the free edge and used to extend the nail enhancement beyond the fingertip for additional length.
The monomer liquid and polymer powder are each poured into a special holder called a? Dappen Dish
Odorless monomer liquids require less liquid and what kind of brush? Flat brush because it holds less liquid
Dust Masks Prevent inhalation of excessive amounts of dust but they Do Not provide protection from vapor
Repaired by filling the area and adding monomer liquid and polymer powder to it is called? Crack repair
Apex Also know as arch, is the area of the nail that has all of the strength.
Stress area Where the natural nail grows beyond the finger and becomes the free edge
Nail extension underside The actual underside of the nail extension
Odorless products harden more slowly and create a tacky layer called? Inhibition layer.
What part of the brush do you use to press and smooth the product to shape the enhancements free edge? Middle portion
Do not use nippers to clip away loose nail enhancement product because? Nipping can perpetuate the lifting problem and can damage the nail plate. If lifting is excessive soak odd the enhancement and start fresh
Nails are hard when they make a clicking sound when? Lightly tapped with a brush handle
When taking off nail enhancements soak the clients nails for? 20 to 30 minutes
Once or twice during the removal of the enhancement use? a wooden or metal pusher to gently push off the softening enhancement.
