Define Compound | The substance formed by the chemical reaction of two or more different elements |
Define Atomic Number | The number of protons and electons in one atom of an element |
Define Mass Number | The total number of neutrons and protons in the nucleus of an atom of an element |
How are ions formed? | When atoms lose or gain electrons in a chemical reaction |
Define monoatomic ions | An ion consisting of a single atom |
How do ions form ionic bonds? | When a metal and a gas react together, the single outer electron in the metal atom is transferred to the gas atom |
What number range are bases on the pH scale? | 8-14 |
What number range are acids on the pH scale? | 1-6 |
What is a balanced symbol equation for neutralisation? | H+ + OH- reacts to form H20 |
