| Stanza | Act like paragraphs in a poem,gives the poem structure |
| Fixed Form | A form of structure where the poet arranges the stanzas with a repeating or predictable pattern |
| Sonnet | An example of a fixed form |
| Free Form | Poetry that does't have structure or pattern, doesn't rhyme |
| Narrative Poem | Describes the purpose behind the writing, tells a story |
| Lyric Poetry | Contains the poet's feelings and thoughts, often romantic and descriptive poems |
| End Rhyme | Words at the end of different lines rhyme |
| Internal Rhyme | Words in the same line rhyme |
| Connotation | Emotional connection to the word (positive, negative, or neutral) |
| Dennotation | Definition of the word |
| Onomatopoeia | Words that sound like what they describe(ex:sizzle, crackle, pop) |
| Alliteration | The same letter or letter sound is repeated at the beginning of words |
| Rhyme Scheme | A pattern of end rhymes in a poem |
