TermDefinition
Variable A symbol for an unknown number. Usually the symbol is a letter like m or x.
Constant A number that is by itself. It has no variable.
Coefficient A number that multiplies with the variable. For Example, 2y (means 2 times y, so 2 is the .
Operator A symbol that represents the operation. The symbols are +, x, /, or -
Term A number or a variable, or both multiplied together.
Expression A group of terms that is separated by an operator
Exponent A symbol at the top of the number that tells you how many times the number must be multiplied.
Polynomial A bunch of terms that can have constants, variables, and positive exponents
Monomial A one term polynomial
Binomial A two term polynomial
Trinomial A three term polynomial
Like Terms Terms that have the same variable
Point has no dimension
Line has one dimension
Plane has two dimensions
Solid has three dimensions
Plane Geometry about flat surface shapes
Polygon A shape made of straight lines that is two dimensional
Solid Geometry Focuses on three dimensional space
