Transformations

TermDefinition
Transformation A function or mapping the results in a change in position, shape, or size of the figure.
Preimage The original figure.
Rigid Motion A transformation that preserves distance and angle measures.
Translation Transformation that maps all points of a figure the same distance in the same direction.
Composition of Transformation Combination of two or more transformations.
Reflection A Mirrored figure.
Line of Reflection A line where an image and its mirrored image touch at one point.
Isometry Transformation that preserves distance or length.
Glide Reflection Composition of a translation and a reflection across a line parallel to the direction of translation.
